English: St Neot mosaic This decorative pavement mosaic is at the western end of the Market Square. It is largely a copy of the Alfred Jewel, arbitrarily and implausibly captioned with the name of the towns eponymous Saxon monk. The inscription (at the top and inverted in this image) which on the jewel reads - "AELFRED MEC HEHT GEWYRCAN" - "Alfred ordered me made" - here reads "AELFRED MEC HECT GEWYCAN".
