Summary

Description
English: St Bartholomews Schulze organ The world famous Schulze organ is a magnificent work of art. The organ has moved around a fair bit in its history. It was originally owned by Thomas Stewart Kennedy who had his house in Leeds called Meanwood Towers. Meanwood Towers is a grand gothic building designed by Edward Welby Pugin who also built Mount St Mary's church in Leeds. Meanwood Towers still exists to this day, minus its extraordinary tall chimney stacks. Some 40 yards from the front door he added an 'organ house', sometimes described as a 'summer house' in which he had Edmund Schulze install the Organ he had specially commissioned. In 1877 the organ was loaned to St Peter's Church Harrogate, and in 1879 it was installed in the north transept of St Bartholomew's.
