Interior of Spring Hall, now known as Spring Hall Mansions, off Huddersfield Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire. Showing old Belfast sink in one of the cellar rooms which have arched ceilings. There is no evidence of plumbing to the sink, and there is space beneath for a bucket to catch drainage. These shallow sinks were really just shelves for water bowls and buckets. This part of the cellar is likely to be a remnant of the original 17th century building, although the sink could have been installed in the 19th century. This room originally had a hearth and a coal chute.

This mansion was a rebuild of a 17th century house, and designed in 1871 by William Swinden Barber for Tom Holdsworth. It is owned by Kirklees Council and it houses Calderdale Register Office.
