| Description |
Interior of Spring Hall, now known as Spring Hall Mansions, off Huddersfield Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire. This is the extended part of the old cellar, extended by the architect in 1871. It has its original joist and lath ceiling, which has been repainted in the 21st century. This shows that the 1871 ground plan of the house was larger than the old 17th century ground plan. This mansion was a rebuild of a 17th century house, and designed in 1871 by William Swinden Barber for Tom Holdsworth. It is owned by Kirklees Council and it houses Calderdale Register Office. Note: Most of the interior of the building is not accessible to the public. Each interior image by this uploader was taken with kind permission of Council staff. |
