Interior of Spring Hall, now known as Spring Hall Mansions, off Huddersfield Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire. Showing view through second floor window (room now used as an office). Note that the original window frames have been retained. The second-floor rooms have hung ceilings fixed more than a yard above the base of the gable roofs, so these chambers would originally have been poorly insulated. They were probably accommodation for service staff. This mansion was a rebuild of a 17th century house, and designed in 1871 by William Swinden Barber for Tom Holdsworth. It is owned by Kirklees Council and it houses Calderdale Register Office. Note: Most of the interior of the building is not accessible to the public.
