This diagram demonstrates the decay of radioactivity in high level wastes from one tonne of spent PWR fuel.

The vertical axis shows activity of the wastes, horizontal years after removal from interim storage (activity in reactor is still much higher).

The horizontal line in the middle represents the activity of the original uranium ore.
