Description

Souchay family grave, St Paul’s churchyard, Withington, Manchester. Adelaide (Adelheid) Souchay was the cousin of Cécile Mendelssohn Bartholdy, wife of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The inscription reads:

In memory of Charles Isaac Souchay
born July 22nd 1799
Died Nov 11th 1872
Math: 5.V.8. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God
1.Cor: 13.V.7. Charity beareth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things
1.Cor: 13.V.13.and now abideth faith, hope, charity. These three; but the greatest of these is charity.
