English: This is a slightly cropped version of the erythema migrans image from the 2024 paper "Delayed Diagnosis of Locally Acquired Lyme Disease, Central North Carolina, USA" published in the CDC's journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.

This was a case of locally acquired Lyme disease in the suburbs north of Raleigh, North Carolina, an area of low incidence.
