Summary

Description
English: In the foreground the new (stage 1) Concepcion Crater is shown. The damage to the plain's sediments caused by the impact of the crater-forming meteorite aids in the loosening of hematite spherules to convert them from sediment embedded spherules into loose surface blueberries. Concepcion Crater is not on the list of officially named craters; however, it was featured in Golombek et al 2014 in studies of erosional processes on the Meridiani Planum. The background of this image shows a long distance view (from a viewing height of 1.5 m) of a field of plain's ripple soil bedforms. Such views are common on the Meridiani Planum.
