DescriptionSnow Dome, Forbes, Lyells, Et al from Mt. Kitchener.jpg
English: Snow Dome (foreground), Mt. Forbes (49 km (30 mi) away), the Lyells (L1, L2, & L3), Farbus Mtn., Oppy Mtn., Castleguard Mtn. and more, as seen from the summit of Mt. Kitchener on the edge of the W:Columbia Icefield... a myriad of Canadian Rocky Mountains, on a May long weekend. The amount of snow you see here in late May is mainly due to the elevation and glaciation in the area - it's not likely snowy on the roads or in the valleys at this time of year in the Rockies. The Great Divide runs through three of the Lyells (L5, L4 & L3) and then along Oppy and Farbus Mountains, so part of the image is in W:Alberta and part in B.C., as well as part in Jasper Park (the foreground) and much in Banff, with some out of any park. Incidentally, Mt. Forbes is the highest peak totally within Banff Park, while Snow Dome is the hydrographic apex of Canada, with water running into three oceans. This photograph is cropped 16:9 and is WQHD (2560x1440 px resolution), so you can download it for use as Apple wallpaper / Windows background or for most TVs, if you wish.
