Summary
| Description |
Nederlands: De "Snelheid" was de eerste locomotief in Nederland. Geleverd door een machinefabriek in Zwolle in mei 1839. Samen met zijn zusterlocomotief “Arend” trok het op 20 september 1839 de openingstrein op de lijn Amsterdam-Haarlem. De breedspoorlocomotief met de 1A1 of 2-2- 2 wielopstelling was in 1848 al verouderd, maar werd een beetje gemoderniseerd en omgezet naar normaalspoor. Gesloopt rond 1863. Een operationele replica van de zusterlocomotief "Arend" werd gebouwd in 1939 en is bewaard gebleven. |
