Se muestran los cuatro mayores imperios de la historia (Durántez Prados, 2018) representados bajo los siguientes criterios:
- Imperio español. Se muestra el territorio europeo junto a sus reclamaciones hemisféricas (a partir de 1494 [Grande Encyclopédie Larousse, Éd. 1971-1976: Empire colonial espagnol]) y reclamaciones filipinas (a partir de 1565).
- Imperio británico. Se muestra el territorio reconocido por el resto de potencias junto a sus reclamaciones antárticas.
- Imperio ruso. Se muestra el territorio previo a la venta de Alaska.
- Imperio mongol. Se muestra la suma territorial de los diferentes kanatos en torno al año 1300.

The four largest empires in history are shown (Durántez Prados, 2018) represented under the following criteria:
- Spanish Empire. European territory is shown along with its hemispheric claims (from 1494 [Grande Encyclopédie Larousse, Éd. 1971-1976: Empire colonial espagnol]) and Philippine claims (from 1565).
- British Empire. Territory recognized by the other powers is shown together with its Antarctic claims.
- Russian Empire. Territory prior to the sale of Alaska is shown.
- Mongol Empire. The territorial sum of the different khanates around the year 1300 is shown.
