he Sir John Nelthorpe School can trace its roots back to 1669. Sir John Nelthorpe, after whom the school is named, was born in Brigg in 1614. A lawyer by profession, he turned soldier during the Civil War. He died, unmarried, in 1669 and decided to leave his mark by founding a school in Brigg. The original building is a grade I listed.
