English: Drawing of the Sinking Creek cavalry raid that occurred in western Virginia on November 26, 1862. Major William Powell was later awarded the Medal of Honor for leading this daring raid.

This drawing is from a book published in 1897. The raid took place in Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia). The location is north of Lewisburg, in the Sinking Creek Valley adjacent to Cold Knob Mountain.
