Summary

Description Excambian is the only surviving aircraft of 3 built in 1942 for American Export Airlines for non-stop trans-Atlantic service. Until the end of 1942 they carried priority passengers and freight under contract to the Navy and Army. After the war Excambian flew for several charter airlines until being damaged beyond repair in 1968 when it was retired from service. After some custody changes, the Navy transferred the aircraft to the New England Air Museum on "permanent loan", and in 1983 Excambian (nicknamed "Mother Goose") was barged from the Gulf of Mexico to Bridgeport, CT.
