English: Iron collars of uncertain date, formerly used throughout Scotland as a method of public punishment for relatively minor civil and ecclesiastical offences. They would have been fastened to the wall of a church. These specimens from the Trinity district of Edinburgh are displayed in the National Museum of Scotland.
