Description
English: The steamship Frederik den Siette was the first steamship built in Denmark, although the machinery was imported from England. Delivered from Jacob Holms shipyard in Copenhagen in 1830, and employed on the Copenhagen-Kiel line. Wrecked in 1845. Original painting is at the Landesmuseum in Schleswig. Text from Frit Hav. Dansk Skibsfart i 100 år, 1984. Petersen did the painting in 1830 (or the early 1830s) with a background from the Bay of Kiel. (Hanne Poulsen, Danske Skibsportrætmalere, page 46.).
