English: LT COL Sherman E. Flanagan Jr., was a member of the 121st Tactical Fighter Squadron, District of Columbia Air National Guard. On July 21, 1968, in South Vietnam, while on strike mission, his aircraft crashed for unknown reasons. He was unable to be found. In 2007, a researcher stated he may have been the first National Guardsman to be killed from Maryland. |
