Description

Sharkey Bonano & band on stage in New Orleans, 1950.

Published caption:

SHARKEY BONANO. The man at the mike plays the cleanest Dixieland trumpet style in New Orleans. Others pictured: Santo Pecora, trombone; Monk Hazel, drums; dancer Isaac "Pork Chops" Mason; clarinetist Lester Bouchon.
Notes: Probably photographed on Bourbon Street, French Quarter. Dancer "Pork Chop" was part of dance duo "Pork Chop & Kidney Stew" who danced in the streets busking for tips; Sharkey regularly invited them into the club and up on stage with him during the evening show and the the three would perform a comic dance together. Lester Bouchon also played saxophone.
