English: This bed in Anne Hathaway's Cottage is believed to the "second bed" (or matrimonial bed) that William Shakespeare left to his wife Anne (née Hathaway). The bed is documented as having been left to the Hathaway family by Elizabeth, Lady Barnard, Shakespeare's granddaughter and last surviving descendant. Historians working for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have postulated that Shakespeare's "second bed" passed from Anne to her daughter Susanna Hall and then to her daughter Elizabeth Barnard.
