English: Shahr-e-Gholghola or the 'City of Screams', Taken Sept 9, 200 near Bamyan City, Bamyan Province, Afghanistan. This was the site of 13th Century massacre of the city's population by Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan, avenging the murder of his favorite grandson. If you look closely you can see a few people sitting atop. Those are Afghanistan forces watching the valley. The ruins are riddled with landmines and is a safety hazard for anyone moving around the mound. Photo by William E. Henry
