English: Selby railway swing bridge With no rail service on Boxing Day, the bridge has been swung to leave the river free for navigation throughout the day. This bridge used to be a thorn in the flesh of the East Coast Main Line as it required a severe speed restriction. For the electrification of the route, a new section of line was built which bypasses Selby.
