DescriptionSectionInsulator.png
English: An insulator at a section break on 12 kV, 25 Hz catenary The white parallel rods are fiberglass insulators. A passing pantograph will bridge the metal runners, shorting the two sections of catenary together. Note that the arcing horns diverge as they rise above the runners, this helps to extinguish the arc which is formed whenever a pantograph travels under the runners.
