English: Ninth Secretary Robert McCormick Adams (1984-1994) with Secretary-Elect Ira Michael Heyman (1994-1999) in the Enid A. Heyman came to the Smithsonian Institution from the Department of the Interior where he served as counselor to Bruce Babbitt Secretary of the Interior and deputy assistant secretary for policy. From 1980 to 1990 Heyman was chancellor of the University of California at Berkeley and is also former Smithsonian Institution regent.
