This is an image of a building or other location within the Pioneer Square-Skid Road Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district has been successively enlarged, and hence has multiple NRHP IDs: 70000086, 78000341, and 88000739

Summary

Description

A pair of photos and some decoration collectively captioned "The Bank of Dexter Horton & Co.", from brochure Seattle and the Orient (1900). This was the ancestor of Seattle First National Bank (Seafirst), eventually absorbed into the Bank of America.

The pictures are further captioned individually:

  • Lower left: "Dexter Horton & Co. Bankers, Cor. First Ave. S. and Washington St., Seattle, Wash."
  • Upper right: "Interior of bank"
The building survives as of 2007.

p. 123 of Seattle and the Orient (more properly, Seattle …and the… Orient), a 1900 "souvenir" pamphlet edited and compiled by Alfred D. Bowen and published by The Times Printing Company (that is, the Seattle Times).
