English: Polished sections of internal molds (or more precisely: pseudomorphs) of agate of gastropods from the sedimentary interbeds of the Deccan Trap volcanics, Late Cretaceous, India. Note that the apertural areas of the shells were filled with sediment (still visible) whereas the rest of the shells remained hollow so that the quartz could precipitate undisturbedly.
