Description
English: w:Victor Scheinman's MIT Arm, ca. 1972 “While a graduate student at Stanford, Victor Scheinman developed this electrically powered arm for the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. The prototype was considered the first truly flexible robotic arm and had an identifiable shoulder, elbow and wrist. Later versions of the MIT arm became known as the w:Programmable Universal Manipulator for Assembly, or PUMAs, and are the most common electric arms in the world.”
