English: Scalan Seminary During the period of religious intolerance there was a clandestine Roman Catholic seminary here from 1717 to 1799 and around 100 priests were trained.
Tucked away in the Ladder Hills it is remote, even today, however was raided by Hanoverian troops on several occasions and burned to the ground following Culloden. The building today dates from 1767.
