Title
English: Sawmill at Nagrom, Washington, ca. 1912
Description
English:

In the 1990s, Nagrom is a small settlement in the upper Green River Valley of western Washington state. For a number of years, starting in 1911, it was a thriving logging and sawmill town. A Northern Pacific Railroad official gave the town its name by spelling "Morgan" backwards. E.G. Morgan was the president of the Morgan Lumber Company which operated the town's sawmill. This photographic postcard, postmarked 1912, shows the sawmill at Nagrom behind acres of logged-off land. The "X" referred to in the message is no longer visible on the card.

Written on verso:Message: X Blacksmith shop shack we sleep in. Original photographic print (postcard): Waters, V.S., ca. 1912. Copied in 1998 by the Museum of History and Industry.
