English: This image shows a sample of the San Pedro Quartz Monzonite, exposed in the San Pedro Mountains of New Mexico, USA. This monzonite has a radiometric age of 1730 million years and was likely part of an island arc that accreted to North American during the Yavapai Orogeny. The sample here shows rapakivi texture, in which oval potassium feldspar crystals have a oligoclase rim. This is particularly noticeable in the grain right of center.
