Summary

Description Postcard depiction of the Burlington/Rock Island Sam Houston Zephyr. The two railroads jointly operated the route, with the Burlington using their Sam Houston Zephyr and the Rock Island operating their Twin Star Rocket. This is a depiction of the second Burlington trainset for the route; the original "shovel-nose" trainset was destroyed by fire in 1944 when it was under the jurisdiction of the Rock Island.
Date Card was not posted. The non-shovel nose service began after the 1944 fire which destroyed the trainset and continued until the line went out of service in 1966. From the locomotive on the card's front, this was circa 1944 to early 1950's.
