English: Samuel Russell "Sam" Cotten (born 1947) is an American politician. Cotten was born in Juneau, Alaska, where his father, Samuel Lafayette Cotten, alternated between business ventures in resource development and various government posts. The family eventually settled in Eagle River, Alaska, where Sam was among the first graduates of Chugiak High School. He represented Eagle River, Chugiak and other portions of Anchorage as a Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives for multiple terms, including a term as the body's speaker. He is currently serving in the cabinet of Alaska governor Bill Walker as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
