Summary

Description
English: The “Sailor” by Jacob Lipkin, 1948 (bronze, 36 inches high). The only Lipkin sculpture ever cast in bronze, it was made to honor the 9,500 merchant marines killed in World War II. Originally donated to the Seamen’s Church Institute of New York in 1953, it was stolen in 1973, then recovered in 2016.
