Description
English: In this scene moments after ignition at Launch Pad 39A, at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), the Space Shuttle Discovery heads toward an eleven-day mission in Earth-orbit in support of the STS-85 mission. Launch occurred at 10:41 a.m. (EDT), August 7, 1997. Onboard the spacecraft were astronauts Curtis L. Brown, Jr., commander; Kent V. Rominger, pilot; N. Jan Davis, payload commander; and Stephen K. Robinson and Robert L. Curbeam, Jr., both mission specialists; along with payload specialist Bjarni V. Tryggvason, a Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut.
