DescriptionSOUTHERN METHODIST CHURCH BUILDING, BUCKHANNON, UPSHUR COUNTY, WV.jpg
English: . IN 1862 UNION TROOPS STORED SUPPLIES IN THIS BUILDING. A CONFEDERATE RAID CAPTURED THE TOWN AND BURNT THE SUPPLIES OUTSIDE THE CHURCH AND ALONG MAIN STREET. IN 1968 THE CHURCH BECAME THE CHURCH OF CHRIST BUT IN 1986 THE CHURCH WAS SOLD TO THE UPSHUR COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
REF. #92000898 I SEND ALONG THIS PICTURE BECAUSE THE CURRENT PICTURE IS OF A STAINED GLASS WINDOW WHICH IS NOT THE MAJOR HISTORICAL REASON FOR THE INCLUSION OF THIS BUILDING ON THE NATIONAL. IN ADDITION THE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS ARE VERY INCONSPICUOUS ESPECIALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE.
