English: SNODGRASS TAVERN BUILT IN 1742 AND IS ONE OF THE OLDEST BUILDINGS STILL STANDING IN WEST VIRGINIA; BUILT PERHAPS BY JOHN FORD BUT SOLD TO ROBERT SNODGRASS WHO OPERATED IT AS A TAVERN UNTIL 1847 WHEN IT WAS SOLD AS A PRIVATE RESIDENCE. WASHINGTON STAYED HERE ON SEVERAL OICCASIONS DURING HIS SURVEY AND HENRY CLAY STAYED HERE WHILE VISITING FRIENDS WHILE HE WAS SECRETARY OF STATE.
