Summary

Description
English: Top view of SIGABA cipher machine on display at the U.S. National Cryptologic Museum. The cipher unit, CSP-887, with the code and index wheels, has been removed and is on top of the SIGABA housing. Note the Controller switch at right. It has five positions:[1]:p. 19
  • O—Off
  • P—Plain text, each character typed is printed on the output tape. Used to type indicators and date/time groups before and after encrypting a message.
  • R—Reset, used when adjusting settings and zeroizing, nothing is printed
  • E—Encrypt
  • D—Decrypt
