English: ZAMA, JAPAN - SEPTEMBER 11: In this handout photo from the U.S. Army, Alleged U.S. Army deserter Sgt. Charles R. Jenkins is shown accepting an advance payment that is offered to Soldiers arriving at a new duty station at Zama Camp, after allegedly deserting his South Korean post nearly four decades ago, on September 11, 2004 in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Jenkins, who in 1965 disappeared across the Korean Peninsula's Demilitarized Zone separating North Korea and South Korea while on patrol, is scheduled to surrender today to U.S. authorities at the military base Camp Zama in Kanagawa Prefecture.
