Français : Charles-Valentin Alkan, né Charles-Valentin Morhange, le 30 novembre 1813 à Paris, mort dans la même ville le 29 mars 1888, est un pianiste et compositeur français.

Se rattachant à la tradition de grande virtuosité de l'époque romantique, lancée par Paganini au violon, puis au piano par Frédéric Chopin et Franz Liszt, il est considéré comme le plus important représentant français de l'école de piano romantique.

Il est inhumé dans le carré juif du cimetière de Montmartre dans la même tombe que sa sœur, Céleste Morhange-Alkan (1811-1897), épouse de Mayer-Marix, fabriquant d’orgues, inventeur de l’harmoniflûte.
