Summary

Description

This sample was identified as R monticola by RBGSYD, but has hairless sheaths and blades, no ligule, flowerheads to 8 cm long and robust plants - all more typical of R longifolium.

Lemmas are 2-2.8 mm long (excluding lobes) and covered in short hairs, but with a row of distinctly longer hairs just below the awn; the awn arises between 2 shortly-awned lobes and has a twisted base. Paleas are lanceolate and distinctly longer than the lemma bodies.
