DescriptionRyde Castle Hotel - geograph.org.uk - 837084.jpg
English: Ryde Castle Hotel Viewed here from Dover Street. The hotel web site implies that it dates from Tudor times but the current building is in fact Victorian, built as a mock castle. There are no records other than the hotel's own claim, that there was ever a fort of any description on the site prior to the current building. Maps of the area show no structures on the site before the 19th Century.
