English: Edward Russell "Russ" Meekins, Jr. (born 1949) is an American former politician. Meekins served several terms as a Democrat in the Alaska House of Representatives during the 1970s and early 1980s, including as majority leader in his final term. A key player in the two major events of the historic 12th Alaska State Legislature (the overthrow of the House speaker and the expulsion of a senator following a bribery conviction), Meekins soon found himself on the outs with the political establishment and left Alaska for Massachusetts ca. 1990. He is the father of Drew Meekins.
