Summary

Description
English: Royndin Fríða is a Faroese wooden boat from Vágur, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. It is a so-called 5-mannafar; it was built in 2004 by boat builder Sámal Hansen. The boat is used for rowing competitions, which are held every summer around the islands at the "stevnur" (festivals). The rowing competitions start with the Norðoyastevna in Klaksvík in the Northern Islands and ends with the final rowing competition at Ólavsøka, the national holiday of the Faroe Islands, which is held in the capital Tórshavn. Ólavsøka is the only festival which is always held on the same day, the rowing competition at Ólavsøka is always held on the eve of Olavsoka which is on 28 July. This photo was taken at the Jóansøka festival in Vágur in Suðuroy, the hometown of this boat. They won their competition which was for boys rowing in 5-mannafør.
