Royal Square, St Helier. A statue of the King George II (by John Cheere) was erected in the square in 1751 in gratitude of the king's gift of 200 for a new harbour, and the market place was renamed Royal Square, although the name has remained L?i?Marchi (the old market).
One paving slab is engraved to inform us that the Battle of Jersey took place here on the 6th January 1781.
