Summary

Description
English: Approximately 5,000 people gathered at the Royal Customs Wharf in Brunei Town on the morning of 11th December 1961 to bid farewell with the message "Selamat Berkhidmat kepada Tanah Air" ("Serve the Homeland Well") to 195 future soldiers of the Brunei Malay Regiment.

Before the recruits departed from Brunei, they had the opportunity to shake hands with the Honourable Dato Setia Marsal bin Ma’un, the Chief Minister of Brunei. The Chief Minister delivered a speech offering valuable advice to the recruits at the gathering.

Following this, Begawan Mudim Haji Adnan, the Kadhi of Brunei, recited a prayer for their safety, accompanied by the call to prayer (azan) by Mudim Haji Wasli.

These photographs were taken at the Royal Customs Wharf in Bandar Brunei before the future Brunei Malay Regiment recruits departed for Labuan. Another scene captured in Labuan on the evening of 11th December 1961 shows the recruits boarding the vessel Keningau to sail to Singapore.
Bahasa Melayu: Kira2 5,000 orang telah membanjiri Tambatan Kastam Diraja di-Bandar Brunei untok menguchapkan "Selamat Berkhidmat Kapada Tanah Ayer" kapada 195 orang bakal2 Askar Melayu Brunei pada pagi 11 December, 1961.

Sa-belum perajurit2 itu berpisah dari Negeri Brunei, mereka telah bersalam2-an dengan Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Setia Marsal bin Ma'un, Menteri Besar Brunei.

Y.A.B. Dato Setia Marsal telah memberi uchapan mengandongi nasehat2 yang berharga kapada bakal2 askar itu di-tempat tersebut.

Kemudian Begawan Mudim Haji Adnan, Kadhi Brunei membacha do'a sela-mat di-turut oleh azan oleh Mudim Haji Wasli.

Gambar2 ini di-ambil di-Tambatan Kastam Diraja Bandar Brunei sa-belum Bakal2 Askar Melayu Brunei tersebut belayar ka-Labuan. Satu pemandangan di-Labuan pada petang 11 December, 1961 pada masa bakal2 Askar Melayu Brunei sedang menaiki kapal "Keningau" untok belayar ka-Singapura.
