DescriptionRoyal Air Force Abingdon c1972 - geograph.org.uk - 1428233.jpg
English: Royal Air Force Abingdon c1972 Archive material! Taken from a Chipmunk trainer aircraft. The small area of the airfield shown includes: to the left, the Jaguar aircraft servicing hangar, right of centre - the hangar housing No 1 Parachute Training School (RAF) and to the right of that the Joint Air Transport Establishment hangar. At bottom left can be seen a training tower to which trainee parachutists would graduate having completed training in basic exit and landing techniques from apparatus in the main hangar. The white building left of centre was the Air Traffic Control Centre. Somewhat different from today's aerial views! Date taken is approximate.
