This painting was published in The Sun (New York) on June 13, 1915, according to p.69 of Romaine Brooks by Adelyn D. Breeskin (ISBN 0-87474-287-0). According to Amazons in the Drawing Room, the painting also appeared in France in a booklet printed to raise funds for the war effort. It's unclear which of these two publications came first, so I'm tagging this as first published outside the U.S. to be safe.
