View southward, towards Hastings on the ex-SE&CR London - Tonbridge - Hastings main line; terminus of the Kent & East Sussex Light Railway from Tenterden and Headcorn. It is the Last Day of the original K&ESR (see TQ8833 : Tenterden Town station, with train from Headcorn on the Last Day of service.) and in the bay on the left is ex-LB&SC Stroudley A1X class 0-6-0T No. 32655 (built 12/1875 as A1 No. 55 'Stepney', rebuilt as A1X 10/1912, withdrawn 5/60 but purchased and preserved by the Bluebell Railway since then). The Up Hastings - Charing Cross express is headed by SR Maunsell class V 'Schools' 4-4-0 No. 30905 'Tonbridge' (built 5/30, withdrawn 12/61).
