English: Exterior view of the first River Station — on San Fernando Road north of Chinatown in Los Angeles (before 1901).
Built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1876, and used until 1887 when it was demolished for the new second River Station of brick on the site. It's site is the present day Cornfield area of Los Angeles State Historic Park
The two-story wooden station had both women's and men's waiting rooms, and later had a hotel and restaurants were added to it. It was the main Southern Pacific L.A. passenger station, until the Arcade Depot was completed in 1888, in eastern Downtown Los Angeles.
