English: Circa 1939 Riley 12 1½ litre saloon. Directly after the bankruptcy of Riley, the company's assets came into the hands of the Nuffield Corporation which drastically pruned and rationalized the Riley model range, utilizing components from the Morris/Wolseley parts bin. This was one of two Riley models produced following that exercise until World War II put an end to Riley production (though the Kestrel 16 'Big Four' was re-introduced briefly, with a Nuffield gearbox, in respond to protestations from enthusiasts). After the end of the Second World war, Riley values were revived in the 'RM' range. For a few years Rileys became again distinctive vehicles, before BMC condemned the marque to a badge-engineered future.
(DVLA) first registered 1 May 1939, 1500 cc — so almost certainly a 12/4 1496 cc
